Review: Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara

We all know mascara is my have-to-have makeup item. I just don’t feel myself without a coat (ok, maybe three coats…) of mascara on my lashes. I am forever searching for the best mascaras to plump up my lashes and open my eyes up. I have tried so many mascaras and have become quite picky with them.

Today, I thought I’d give you my thoughts on the Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes mascara.

image3

For starters, the main thing that stands out for this one is the applicator wand. It is small and spherical, instead of the long ones you normally get. I quite like this because, yes it takes a bit longer, but it allows you to be very precise and get every little lash, without getting mascara all over your eye lids.

image4

I have also found that this product is quite lengthening, but I do put on a couple of coats to get it to how I like it.

image1

The negatives, it does take a little longer to put on. This isn’t really a quick swipe and go product. It is also a bit more pricy at £24, so I would say this is more of a treat yourself kind of thing, but I do love having it as an option in my mascara bag (yes, I do have a cosmetics bag just for mascara…..don’t judge me!) I do think that you can get other mascaras that will work just as well from a high street brand, so if you aren’t in the market for a pricy mascara, have no fear, you will find some pretty fab ones at Superdrug.

image2

Overall, I give this product a thumbs up because it goes on easily, it does lengthen my lashes and gives me an ‘eyes wide open’ look, which I love and I do really like the smaller applicator wand.

Let me know if you like this product too, or if you don’t think it’s worth the money.

Until next time gang,

Review: Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara

If I had to choose only one makeup product to use for the rest of my life, it would have to be mascara. I feel like it just makes me a bit more me and feel so naked without it. This means that I am a bit mascara obsessed and love trying out new formulas and can be quite picky as to which ones I actually end up using on a daily basis.

image3

My current go-to which passed the Chantilly Mascara Review is the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara. I know that this is probably not new to a lot of you, but it is worth mentioning because it really is a bloomin’ lovely product!

image1

I am sure you have probably seen quite a few beauty bloggers with the unicorn version of this that comes in silver packaging (I am not one of them sadly! Just picture what’s below but in silver!) and it is so cute! I love the packaging of the product anyway because it is very unique!

image4

I love this formula because it gives me both volume and length and I don’t have to keep layering it on to achieve my desired look (which is a lot of mascara! Remember how much I love it…?) I will say that it is not particularly curling, but I give my lashes a good curl before I use any mascara, so this isn’t a deal breaker for me. I have found that it can be a little flakey, but that has only happened once or twice and it is so perfect for everyday I have over looked that since it isn’t a normal occurrence.

It is just such a useful product, whack it on, and done. No fuss, just beautiful lashes!

Let me know if you love this mascara, or want to try it out by sharing this post so we can spread the mascara love!

Until next time gang,

xx

5 Things I Wish I Knew Before Becoming an Adult

When you are younger, growing up sounds like the most exciting thing. And then it happens. Yes, it is exciting and there are many perks, but I wish I had know that there were a lot of down falls as well. It’s true, people do always say “enjoy it while you can” because as an adult you cant do most of the things kids get away with, but did any of us take that seriously enough? These are five things I wish I had really understood before becoming an adult, just to make my transition a little smoother.

Stress levels with sky rocket.

Money, bills, work, responsibilities, all of these things take on a new meaning when you become an adult. All of the sudden these words can be full of stress and it can be difficult to deal with. Being an adult comes with a full set of stressors that can be hard to adjust to, especially if you weren’t ready for them, like I wasn’t. This has been my biggest struggle about adulating so far. The stress. I wish someone would have told me that I would be put under a lot of stress and had shown me ways to cope with it before I was in the thick of things. So, be aware of stress levels and find things you can do to make sure it stays at a healthy level.

Decision making is tough.

Which job should I take? Where should I live? Should I move? Should I take that risk? I want to do ______ but is it feasible? Or, my favourite: Will this make me happy? AH! Enough with throwing big decisions at me world! Making decisions is tough. As an adult the repercussions for out decisions are often much bigger than when we were younger. I mean, deciding what you want for lunch in the school cafeteria may seem like a big deal, but that pales when you are faced with a major life choice like do I take the lesser paying job at home because I might like it, or do I move somewhere new to take the better paying job I might hate? It is really hard to know what to do and I just wasn’t prepared for that.

Meeting people is hard.

You don’t realize when you are in high school and even college that friends and romantic interests are literally handed to you. You have to minimal work to meet people because you are surrounded by likeminded people 24 hours a day. Activities are planned for you and your hardest job is to simply turn up. Once you leave that little bubble, meeting people because something you have to actively try to do and most of us don’t have a lot of practice at this. It is difficult to find people and even harder to create those deep connections that will turn into life long friends. It’s not impossible but I do wish I would have known how hard it can be.

You will change quickly in the early years.

Looking back, even a year, I am a completely different person. My best example of this was meeting up with one of my oldest (in terms of years of friendship rather than age) friends and our choices for topic of conversation. We chose to talk about the housing market, recent world news, job promotions and finding spouses. Yeah, just re-read that sentence one more time for me. Only a few years ago we would have been talking about the merits of High School Musical and wondering if we could get our parents to make us some food. I am not kidding when I say, all it takes is even a year or so in the professional world for you to see some big changes in yourself and sometimes rapid change can be scary.

No one has it figured out, some people are better at pretending.

If you ever get the chance to sit down and have an honest conversation about the reality and stress of adulating with someone, I guarantee they tell you they don’t feel like they have things under control either. So the next time you look at someone and think “how come they don’t seem to be struggling and I live on the struggle bus?” remember that they are probably just good at pretending.

I am sure I am not alone in this. I am now 25 and have been adulating for a few years now, and to be honest, it hasn’t gotten much easier, but it is all apart of the learning process and I am still in my rapid changing phase. I do wish that someone would have warned me about these things just so I could have mentally prepared, so this is me warning you so you can!

Until next time,

Review: Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Scrub

Hello Chant-ilys!

As you guys know, my face hasn’t been agreeing with me and I have been struggling with some spots. I have been trying a lot of different solutions and this one I have loved so much I had to share it with you.

This is the Clearasil Ultra Rapid Action Scrub and it has very quickly become one of my savior products. It claims to give visibly clearer skin in just 12 hours. Now I wouldn’t say that it gives you clear skin in 12 hours, but it does reduce the redness and the skin looks less angry.

image4

I use this in the morning and evening to treat the spots. In the morning I pair this with the Clearasil Rapid Action Pads to really start the day with a clean and cleansed face. In the evenings I pair it with my Mario Badescu Drying Cream (which is also amazing!)

image1

This face scrub has little blue beads in it to exfoliate and really attack the spots and start clearing them away quickly. I also just love how fresh and clean it makes my skin feel after using it. It does have a fairly clinical smell, but I have grown to really like it as it just adds to feeling clean and fresh.

image2

If you are struggling with some spots, I would recommend trying this product. You can find it in most supermarkets and it is only about £5.00.

Let me know what your favourite acne fighting product is in the comments below!

Until next time,

5 Things Cabin Crew Know, That You Should Too

Hello everyone,

Since I have a trip coming up, I thought I would share with you 5 of the tips I have for staying clean and healthy while flying. These are things that I have learned through a lot of flying and from living with my mom, who is former cabin crew. So here we go, my top 5 tips!

1: Keep your shoes on!

I’m not sure why this has to be said, but a lot of people take their shoes off on the plane. I’m not saying this because I think its rude to take your shoes off. No! I’m saying this to keep the nastiness off of you! I see people walk around the plane and go to the bathroom a lot on long-haul flights, but this about that…..its gross! All that bacteria! If you must take your shoes off, put on some thick socks. But, if you get up, cover those tootsies up. So my tip, keep those shoes on!

2: Skip the ice!

I am not sure if this is still true, so if you do know for sure, leave a comment. But, I do know that the water tanks on the planes are hard to clean. They do put tablets in them but I have still heard stories about nasties getting into the water source, and the ice. I go for the bottled water or the OJ, just to be safe.

3: Wipe down the surfaces!

I feel like this one goes without saying, but just in case……wipe down those surfaces! Always make sure to pack some hand sanitizer and some anti-bacterial wipes. I like to just go all out and wipe it all down, the tray table, TV screen, buttons, arm rest, everything! People aren’t afraid to do what they like on a plane, like changing diapers on the tray tables, clipping nails, etc., so just make sure to wipe down the surfaces.

4: Pass on the nuts!

This is a little awkward to say, but do yourself and favour and skip the nuts. they aren’t the best snack in a plane, with all the pressurisation and confined spaces, it might make things a bit unpleasant….you know what I’m talking about here…? (pass on the nuts so you can pass on the gas too! Sorry to be blunt!) I suggest bringing your own snacks, that way you can avoid the nuts and what’s better than having your fave foods along for the ride?!

5: Take Airborne!

You never know what kind of bacteria and illness you will be exposed too on a long flight, so its a good idea to take an Airborne before jetting setting off. There is nothing worse than getting sick on a holiday. There are a lot of people crammed onto that plane, so chances are, some is sick, so protect yourself against the germs and take some airborne.

Well guys, these are my top 5 tips for clean and healthy traveling on a long haul flight. What do you think? What are some of your favourite travel tips?

Until next time gang!

Isn’t Life Worth Celebrating (with Vegan Cupcakes)?

Hello everyone,

A lot has been going on in life lately and I thought in honour of some changes, I would make some vegan cupcakes (which are insanely delicious) and share what I have been thinking about recently with you, so here we go!

image

Isn’t life worth celebrating? It’s spring, the flowers are starting to bloom and perhaps it is this that has me looking up, but I am determined to focus on celebrating the little things. In life, it is all too easy to focus on the negative and dwell on what is going wrong, but when we do that, it is often that we end up looking over the little things that deserve a celebration. For me this week, it was moving to the next stage of interviewing for a job I am hoping to get (keep your fingers crossed for me!). I would never normally think of that as something to celebrate, rather just another average bit of news. BUT, I think that this is just the sort of thing we should be celebrating. Even the fact of getting an interview at all should be a small win that brings on a little victory dance, but these sorts of things just fly under the radar, for me at least.

image

So, as I was rummaging through the pantry looking for all of the ingredients Minimalist Baker (one of my faves, def check out her recipes) said I would need, I decided these are going to be celebratory cupcakes, and this little acknowledgement of success is something I need to do much more often! Shoot, I might start celebrating simply making it through the week if it means I get to treat myself to some mouth watering treats! And so the baking process began.

imageimageimage

I measured, I beat, I poured and I taste tested, all the while thinking about all of positivity I should be focusing on. I tried to draw inspiration from the people around me since it is often easier to see their reasons for happiness and celebration. I’m not sure about you, but I noticed that it isn’t just me who is overlooking life’s little wins so often, I see it in my family and friends as well. So I encourage you to point out these little wins to loved ones when they might over look them, but more importantly, remember to congratulate yourself. Admittedly, there is more than enough negativity in the world right now to overwhelm us all 100 times over, but I think that means we should look even harder for a chance to do a little victory dance, tell yourself how amazing you are and (of course) celebrate with some cupcakes.

Remember to share a smile today and I’ll talk to you soon!

Review: Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner

Hello everyone!

How are you all on this lovely day? The sun in shining here for the first time in the week I have been here, so I am very excited about that!

I haven’t done a review in a while and they are some of my favourite posts to do since I get to just gush about a product, so today I am breaking the silence. Todays subject: Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner.

image

The verdict: try it!

You can find it on SALE here!

I normally tend to stay away from the liquid liners because they are a bit easier to mess up than a felt tip liner, but for some reason I felt compelled to give this liquid one a go. I actually really like it!

I found that it goes on very easily and I love the finish that it gives. You know how some liners dull as soon as they dry and then you feel like you have to put on another coat? Well, this one didn’t seem to do that! It stayed jet black even after it dried and to me, that’s a win. It is also waterproof, so on days that the allergies are playing up, or you get caught in a rain storm, this stays on, no black lines on this face!

Another thing that I love about this product is that it is by Urban Decay and a lot of the Urban Decay products these days are vegan. I just find that I feel so much better about using products/brands that are vegan and I am thrilled that UD advertise a fair few of their products as such. On top of that, the products are amazing, so I can’t ask for much else.

I love hearing from you guys so let me know if you guys have tried this product, as well as what you think about UD advertising vegan products (do you like it? do you care? etc!).

Talk to you next time,
